Quick Answer
To pursue Specified Skilled Worker from Nepal, choose an eligible field, meet that field's Japanese and skill requirements, secure a compliant employment contract, complete immigration and visa procedures, and understand the support plan. Requirements differ by field and are changing, so use the current Immigration Services Agency SSW website before paying or registering.
Basic Eligibility Route
- Be at least the required age and legally eligible.
- Select a current SSW field based on real duties, not only salary claims.
- Pass the required Japanese test and field skill test unless an official exemption applies.
- Find and verify an accepting company.
- Receive and understand the contract and pre-application explanation.
- Complete COE/status and visa procedures for your situation.
- Receive required Type (i) support from the company or registered support organisation.
Tests
SSW Type (i) generally requires a Japanese-language test and a field skill test. Accepted Japanese level and additional licences can vary. For example, some transport duties require a higher JLPT level and Japanese driving licence. Never assume one JFT/JLPT result covers every occupation.
Current Fields
The official SSW support website currently displays Type (i) opportunities across an expanded set of fields and notes new areas whose detailed pages are still being completed. Because older pages and videos may show earlier field counts, confirm the live list at ssw.go.jp/en/about/visa/.
